Our Story
We’re a team of curious creators and bold builders who love robotics and automation. Whether you’re just getting started or already hands-on, you’ll find a fun, supportive space to learn, experiment, and create together. Let’s build cool robots and the future—together!
As we continue to embark on another exciting year of inspiring the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers, we want to share with you the mission and goals of the Eastlake FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) robotics program. Our organization is dedicated to promoting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education throughout our community by providing students with unique opportunities to develop their skills and interests in these vital fields.
Our robotics program is composed of passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our young students. We partner with local schools and organizations to provide hands-on learning experiences that introduce students to robotics and other STEAM fields. Our programs are designed to be fun, engaging, and challenging, allowing students to develop essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
Our Journey
2025
The club continued the season with two groups and now organized into rookie and veteran teams. We also created a novice team called H.A.M. to support and inspire younger members who look up to our rookie and veteran teams. This new structure allow students to grow at their own pace, building skills, confidence, and leadership based on their experience and knowledge. During this season, Team Captain, Jayden, was recognized and nominated for the RISE San Diego ILIA (Inclusive Leader-In-Action) Award, a testament to the dedication and positive impact our members continue to make in the community.
2024
As the new season began, the program was streamlined to 2 teams to increase hands-on opportunities for all students. Both teams competed in its first robotics league of the year. Team EGG 24312 won the San Diego 2024–2025 FTC Season League Meet Alliance Finalist Award, while Team BurritoBots 24218 advanced all the way to the Regional Championship. The teams' lead coach and co-founder, Mr. Bertand, placed 2nd for Compass Award. Post-Production Team (PPT) temporarily placed in hiatus following the graduation of its most senior member.
2023
A group of dedicated students and parents came together to create a robotics club designed to bring STEM opportunities to students who previously lacked access. That summer, the club hosted its very first free robotics and coding workshop, drawing over 30 students ranging from 7th to 12th grade. By early November, the club formed its first three competitive teams, BurritoBots 24218 (BB), Engineering Gear Giants 24312 (EGG) , and Post-Production Team 24298 (PPT), each with 10 members. The teams entered their first competition, where Team BurritoBots 24218 earned the San Diego 2023–2024 FTC Season League Meet Alliance Finalist Award – marking the organization’s first achievement.
